A few journal prompts

Hello, good evening.  Happy Blogmas day 4 and a very happy Monday to you. I wanted to share a few journal prompts with you today.  Journaling is an amazing form of relaxation and self reflection.  It can however be quite overwhelming to know where to start when you are faced with a blank page.  I have collated below a small sample of some of the things I like to journal about, both first thing in the morning and then before you head to bed to clear your head at the end of the day. Let me know which one you might give a try.

Evening reflection prompts

  • what am i proud of today?

More often than not we have a habit (well at least I know I do) of focusing on everything that is going wrong.  Everything we have failed at, things we could have done better.  We rarely sit back and reflect on what we are proud of ourselves for achieving. In yesterday's post I ended it with sharing a handful of things I was proud that I accomplished and it felt great! Writing the words “what I am proud of today?” at the top of your page and just letting your mind run wild can be so valuable.  When I journal I very rarely ever read my pages through. Once I feel like I have gotten everything off of my chest I close it up until the time I need to mentally off load.  But the  “what am I proud of” sections tend to be the one exception to that rule. I like to read it back to make sure it has well and truly sunken in!

  • what am I looking forward to tomorrow ?

I think in moments where everything feels a little heavy and it feels like there is a lot going on.  Lots of stresses and things you are trying to juggle and accomplish it is essential to try and find small things within your control that bring you joy and happiness. No matter what it is as long as it is something that brings joy to you on a daily basis.  Somedays you may have big things you are looking forward to but the other you may be relying on those small little pockets of happiness sprinkled throughout your day. It could be things as simple as your morning coffee, your daily exercise, making a yummy breakfast, meeting up with a loved one. Whatever brings you joy, write it down and get excited about having it to look forward to tomorrow . It will help you find the good and positive in each day even when it might feel like there is nothing.  There is always something to look forward to tomorrow. I promise.

Morning gratitude prompts

  • what are three things I am grateful for?

Gratitude is maybe the most popular form of journaling.  Putting pen to paper and expressing your appreciation out loud for things that are in your life is so powerful. I like making a little list of all of the things that pop up into my head when I am trying to think of what I am grateful for. Going back to an earlier point.  These points can be as big or as small as you like.  It is your journal, you own it!

  • what is one positive habit to focus on today?

Sometimes we are trying to build so many habits and working on improving so many different areas of our lives that it can begin to feel extremely overwhelming. Each  morning you pick up your journal, choosing a positive habit for that day will help focus and centre yourself around one thing only. You will be more likely to succeed and feel accomplished at the end of your day as opposed to being defeated by the long list of things you are going to try and achieve for yourself.  One step at a time and everything will be fabulous.

There are many more where they came from. I have become quite passionate about journaling over the past few years and I have many more prompts where they cam from but just thought I would start with these few here. What is you favoutite thing to journal about?

Please let me know I can’t wait to hear your prompts too.

I will see you back here tomorrow for Blogmas day 5!

Bye ❤️
